Enda mer nyheter fra San Diego Comic-Con.

Fra BSG/Caprica-panelet i går, på spørsmål fra publikum om The Plan vil bli det siste vi får se av Adama og BSG svarte Olmos ganske enkelt:

"As a matter of fact, I've got to tell you right now. Because of you all, what you're doing, because of the love for that world...I can guarantee that this will not be the last movie."

I tillegg til sin tro på "the love for that world" er han håpefull The Plan vil selge godt nok til å finansere flere filmer, og legger til at "they photographed the Galactica sets in insane detail, so they can recreate them digitally any time they want."

Intervju med EJO om the Plan

Edward James Olmos og Mary McDonell vant forøvrig prisene for "Best Actor/Actress on Television" ved årets Saturn Awards.

Den siste replikken her er frakkings genial. Utrolig spennende å se hvordan de har inkorporert bilder fra sesong 2 også. Jeg skjønner veldig godt allerede hvordan The Plan skal få oss til å se BSG på nytt. And I will.

Mer Cyborgs on the Horizon og The Plan

Io9 har en fin liten oppsummering fra fredagens Cyborgs on the Horizon.
Jeg komprimerer:

Hod Lipson viste en video fra en tidligere forelesning som viser bl.a hvordan en robot med fire ben lærer å bevege seg fremover:

"And then, when they ripped off one of it's legs, it limped. A chill swept throughout the audience.."

Kevin Warwick om Cyborg life:

''Then he remarked that it would be pretty naive if we thought we could switch off a superior intelligence, if it ever goes that far.'' Warwick sammenligner superior intelligence med internett, og er ganske sikker på at en cyborg uprising vil bli vår ende (Skynet style) om forskere involvert ikke bruker minst like mye tid på forhåndsregler som de gjør med legoklossene sine.

Til slutt viste de et klipp fra The Plan med Boomer og Cavil. Boomer er ''locked up'' og blir skjelt ut av Cavil fordi hun skjøt Adama to ganger i brystet og ikke i hodet. Boomer forsvarer seg med å si at hun ikke hadde kontroll over seg selv i gjerningsøyeblikket og forklarer at selve prosessen fungerer ved at hun må laste ned en centurion inn i seg selv, som gjør at hun føler hjertet sitt stoppe. Cavil svarer: "that sounds wonderful." Fantastisk.

Nytt klipp: The Plan

Jane Espenson om filmen: "The movie--the second stand-alone telefilm based on the Peabody Award-winning show--deals with all the mythology's secrets..But it's very much designed to be watched after the run of the series, because it definitely relies on stuff you don't learn until much later."

Alt er vel og bra, og forhåpningene er ganske høye. Det er jo faktisk mer BSG! Som med med Razor. Veldig mange fra serien har blitt castet, men det ser dessverre ikke ut til at vi får se mer av Starbuck..

BSG cast om cybernetics og etikk.

Deler av castet samt sjefene Ronald D. Moore og David Eick har tidligere blitt invitert til UN for å diskutere "the portrayal of global issues on BSG."

På fredag vil Mary McDonnell og Michael Hogan delta på World Science Festival's panel "on artificial intelligence and ethics". Programmet går også under tittelen Cyborgs on the Horizon

Der skal de, sammen med robotekspertene Karvin Warvick og Hod Lipson, gå i dybden og diskutere ''scientifically, philosophically, and ethically the approaching frontier where intelligent machines are commonplace and cybernetic technology enhances human capabilities.''

Dradis vil holde utkikk etter transcipt og evt. film av dette.

Olmos om The Plan

Regissøren bak The Plan (November 2009), Edward James Olmos aka Admiral William Adama, sa i et panelintverju i L.A i går at filmen vil bli ''exactly what you think it is''.

Det vil si mer Starbuck i tank top - ja takk? Vel, faktisk vil vi få møte en hel del kjente ansikt, men Kara Thrace er dessverre ikke en av dem. Olmos utdyper:

"You see the complete opposite of the first 281 days of what we went through, ...seen through the eyes of the Cylons, and it is breathtaking. It's fantastic. It's not fun, but I will say that you will sit there.

I couldn't have imagined this kind of a situation happening at the end of a show where you would actually start at the beginning. That's a masterful piece of understanding, Ron [Moore.] Genius. Because after you see The Plan, you'll want to go back and view the whole series again.

All I can tell you is it's an extraordinary look at the Cylons, how they masterminded what they did."

Han røper også at dvd'en vil bli 128 minutter lang, dvs. 30 minutter mer cylon action enn hva filmen som blir ''aired'' vil inneholde. Olmos har regissert 4 episoder av Battlestar Galactica fra før, bl.a Islanded in a Stream of Stars. Selv sitter jeg igjen med inntrykket av at det er Olmos som har vist mest lidenskap og personlig interesse for BSG (av castet), og det hjelper. Jeg gleder meg enormt!

BSG sesong 4 soundtrack

En utgivelse er endelig bekreftet den 21. juni. Det blir en dobbel-CD (den første og siste, sukk), og de av dere som har sett denne siste sesongen vet hvor mye bra vi vil finne her.
Selv har jeg ventet lenge på denne utgivelsen og er glad for å endelig få en dato.
